Product history
A Flavorful and Easy-to-Prepare Dish: Orzo is also known as “kritharaki” in Greece. It is a small pasta shaped like a grain of rice, perfect for warm and comforting dishes. With the addition of freeze-dried mushrooms, it becomes a gourmet and flavorful option for both adults and children. This mushroom orzo lends itself to numerous recipes; it can be prepared as a risotto or added to soups. You can also serve it as a side dish with meats or fish.
Thanks to its quick and simple preparation, mushroom orzo is perfect for balanced and tasty meals. Made with care in Greece near Athens, this orzo is crafted from natural and local ingredients. It is an authentic product from Greece. The freeze-dried mushrooms are harvested from selected regions known for their quality, then dried in a way that retains all their nutrients and unique flavor. This blend of orzo and mushrooms brings a touch of Mediterranean gastronomy to your kitchen.
Culinary pairing
- Mushroom Orzo Risotto: You will need 2 shallots, dried oregano, 250 to 350 g of mushroom orzo, 2 cloves of garlic, 5 spring onions, 40 g of pumpkin seeds, vegetable broth, and 125 g of cream cheese.
Slice the garlic, onion, and spring onions into thin slices. In the meantime, boil 1 liter of water with vegetable broth to cook your freeze-dried mushroom orzo for 8 to 10 minutes. Meanwhile, in a pan, add a drizzle of olive oil and sauté the pumpkin seeds, garlic, onion, and sliced spring onions.
Once the orzo is cooked, add it to the pan along with the cream cheese. Sauté over low heat for about 5 to 8 minutes, until the cheese becomes creamy. Serve hot in deep plates.
- Chicken Mushroom Orzo: You will need 250 to 350 g of mushroom orzo, sliced chicken fillets, garlic, dried oregano, and 25 ml of liquid cream. In a frying pan, drizzle some olive oil and add the minced garlic and sliced chicken fillets. Sauté until cooked. Meanwhile, bring water to a boil with chicken broth, add the mushroom orzo, and cook for 8 to 10 minutes. Then, combine the orzo with the chicken and add the liquid cream. Sauté over low heat for 5 minutes. Serve hot. You can garnish with grated Parmesan or Grana Padano and pair it with a dry, fruity red wine, such as Faré Rebels or the organic Agiorgitiko from Zacharias Winery.
